bathroom built-ins

I've been wanting to put some shelving in my bathroom niches for a while now. Above are some of the images that have been inspiring me to go ahead and get some bids.

My bathroom

I think I should be able to pull off some white floating shelves.

I think shelves will make a big difference and add some pops of color in my bathroom. My husband I wanted a spa feel when we were picking out our options. I love the marble against the glass tiles. This is one of my favorite spots in our house.

Enjoy the weekend!

heart day

I made these cute little lollipop cards for Jordyn's class. I left out her name in case you want to download it for your own.
You're welcome.

They were really easy. Once I printed them out, I folded them in half and cut three slits.
Then pushed the lollipop through the slits.
Make sure you use heavy weight card stock otherwise the paper will rip.

Valentines Day isn't too crazy over here, but I do like to have little subtle hints of love around the house.
I got two banners made this year since I wasn't feeling like Martha Stewart.
The felt heart banner here
&
The felt Ball banner here

I brushed the dust off my wreath I made two years ago at craft night and decided to finally finish it. I added the flowers on the left and called it a day.

This morning the kids woke up to tin cans filled with suckers, cotton candy, I love you straws, and little dancing and singing Valentines day stuffed animals.
Tonight will be date night with my love.
Can't wait.
Wishing you all lots of love!

Do it Yourself

Ikea Shadow Box Frames with Shells.

I've been wanting to make these for a while now and I finally did it. It was so easy, I even made two more with coral branches and a Linen backdrop for my bathroom.

I bought the frames from Ikea.
Got fabric at Joanne's, nothing crazy expensive, actually super cheap.
Picked up some shells from a local shop and got to work.

1. Remove the back of the frame
2. Cut out a piece of fabric big enough to fit behind the Photo Mat.
3. Glued the fabric to the backing of the frame with a glue gun.
4. Then Glued the shells on with a glue gun.
5. Put the frame back together and your done.

Good Luck!

TGIF- White out

After I saw this picture in Domino Magazine a while back I knew my next couch had to be
1. Leather 2. White 3. Tufted

So after searching and searching for the perfect couch with no luck, I decided to have it custom made. We used Sofa Craft, and couldn't be happier.  They literally will make anything you bring them, so I showed them this picture and they made me this lovely couch. We've only been in our house for a year so excuse the nakedness of my family room. It's one thing at a time over here, this is what we got so far

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and while your at it why not whip up some sweet treats. I think I will be making these for the kids. ENJOY!

The sky is falling

Is it too late to start spring cleaning?
This morning I have been on a mission to clean out my cabinets.
Honestly, I feel lighter and much cleaner already.

It also helps when you get a few new kitchen items from Anthro.

Then I looked out my window to see this lovely site. We've been waiting for our yard to get finished for so long

It's going to be a great day.

Inspiration

So I have loved this picture for quite some time. I think I had it in my files before I moved but forgot about it, and now I wished I had remembered it prior to doing our backsplash.

this is my kitchen

Don't get me wrong I love my backsplash( and my kitchen), however, sometimes I do wish I would have picked some color instead of going all white with the subway tiles. It was the safer choice and my thinking was that no matter what I decided to do with the kitchen the backsplash would always match.

Disclaimer; Since this picture was taken I have painted the green fruit holder to white, and moved the glass jars to the butler pantry. Also don't look over to the right, I would love to change out the chairs one day and maybe even change the table to a light grey.

In the mean time, this is my uhhh-maz-ing kitchen, I am so lucky to have it!
As for mimicking my "inspiration"picture, I think the main thing that will make a big impact is getting the hanging lights. The rest will take time, and $$$.  So it's going to be a while.

What do you think?

Accents

It has almost been 1 year since I have moved into my new home. I absolutely love it. It is my dream house. Since moving in I have realized that my style has changed a bit and just about everything from my old home doesn't go or fit in my new place. It's a hard realization especially if you're like me and you want your whole house to flow nicely and hate unfinished areas. However, I've been able to let the unfinished rooms stay for the time being, because I have come to appreciate a clean yet simple room and I want to make sure each piece I buy is going to stay for a long time. It's going to be a slow process but so far we have made some progress and I'm happy with the direction we are going. At the moment I would say my house is sort of a beachy, modern, meets traditional.

The best advice I always give is, to not buy things just to fill up space in the moment, instead save your money for the big items you're going to keep forever.

I have to constantly remind myself to not just buy things because I hate looking at the empty space.  I find myself loading things in my cart, little nicknacks, cheap frames, things I always end up tossing or giving away. If I could have only saved myself years ago and put that money towards say an entry way table, or some dinning room chairs my house might just be half way done or I would have some extra spending money. Either way I have found the best way for me to shop is to make a list of things that are most important. Then figure out what brand and style I like, then search for items one room at a time. I try not to get side tracked and shop for a different space in my home. We shall see how well I do.

Happy Shopping.
